A Body Like a Greek god

Posted by mallton on August 27th, 2009

Most men would like to have the proverbial body of a Greek god, but don’t know where to begin. Fortunately, the ancient Greeks left us some pointers.

The first thing to note is that the Greek god body is not the same as a Mr. Universe-type bodybuilding physique. If you look at classical statues in museums, you’ll see that an athletic Greek god looked more like a boxer or a swimmer. The quality of the muscles is much more important than quantity.

To get a body like that, you first need the correct training program. A generic “fitness” or health club routine won’t work. Having the right program is more important than all the fitness equipment and enthusiasm in the world. And despite what you hear, hard work is definitely not the secret to getting a body like a Greek god. There are plenty of people in gyms everywhere who train hard, but who never get the Greek god body, and even having a personal trainer standing over them for “motivation” is no guarantee of anything.

The reason they don’t succeed is not because they’re doing the exercises incorrectly; it’s because they’re following the wrong program. Learning to do exercises is the easy part. The real secret to getting a body like a Greek god is what you do with these exercises, and how you combine these into a carefully structured system.

To get a Greek god body, you need to go about your training as an artist would carve a statue. That means your program should be broken into very specific phases. In the first phase, you should start carving out a V-shaped torso with special exercises to burn fat and build muscle. In the second phase, you should use targeted exercises to add size and shape strategically while paring away unwanted body fat. And finally, you should put the finishing touches on your physique by incorporating exercises for maximum definition.

Having the perfect musculature is only the start of getting a body like a Greek god. You should also look after the rest of your appearance, and that includes your skin, face and hair.

Unfortunately, we’ve been sold a lot of macho ideas over the years, as well as the mistaken notion that somehow “men age better than women.” That’s rubbish though, and the truth is that men need to take as much care as women, if not more. Trust me, using moisturiser or hair conditioner won’t make you stop being a “real man.”

We could really benefit from following the example of the ancient Greeks. As we learned in school, they were a tough race of warriors, who had conquered much of the known world at one time. But despite that, they didn’t succumb to all this macho nonsense. Sure, strength and fitness were admired in their culture. But more than this, the ancient Greeks elevated the development of the human body to an art form. The classical athlete aspired to have a body like a Greek god, and he wasn’t embarrassed that beauty was a part of it.

This aesthetic mindset is why the phrase “a body like a Greek god” is something that’s still deeply embedded in our language. Even someone who’s never seen a piece of classical art will know exactly what this analogy means. Creating a Greek god body is a big investment. It takes work and dedication. But like all great art, the results are priceless.

Dr. Nick Hallale created The Apollo Program after researching the diet and training methods used by ancient Greek athletes. For more information on the program that gave him a body like a Greek god, please visit the Apollo Program website: http://www.Apollo-Program.com

Grow Taller Exercises That Work

Posted by mallton on August 27th, 2009

Most people think they stop growing taller when they are 18 and many think that they are then at the maximum height.

This is FALSE however; it’s possible to grow taller at almost any age.

Becoming taller may have different connotations for different people. If you’re a basketball player adding very little might just change you from effective to awesome on court. An extra couple of inches in height for a football quarterback could mean the difference between getting and not getting a college scholarship. Getting or not getting into the pros and so on.

Your height also determines who you attract from the opposite sex. Girls like their guys “tall, dark and handsome”. You might not be dark, you might even be a bit plain, but you can grow taller.

Let’s first begin with ways that won’t work:

Bones won’t grow anymore after a certain age.

Many so-called experts are saying you can grow your bones. This is not true. Adding height in fully mature bones is not possible. Don’t be drawn in by any schemers claiming that they can make your bones longer.

There aren’t any herbs to make you taller.

Herbs or calcium or other minerals are not magic potions to stretch you upwards. Mature bones cannot be extended naturally. Some unscrupulous people try and sell herbs and potions on the assurance of bone growth – just refuse. Unfortunately there are charlatans in every walk of life.

So, what is the way to grow taller by up to 3 inches?

It’s all about taking care of and paying attention to your spine. Most people have a kink or curvature of the spine. These curves deprive people of height they would otherwise have without them. You can repair the curves through certain exercises, restoring a straight spine and you can “grow” taller. This is one specific method that will make you taller. There are other spine and posture related issues that should be solved and that can increase a person’s height.

You can gain 2-3 inches in only 6 weeks by doing certain grow taller exercises.

Chinese Astrology, the art of the chinese zodiacs

Posted by mallton on August 26th, 2009

Usually Chinese Astrology is considered as a form of art by majority of people. The idea of Chinese astrology is to aid people achieve their goals by self awareness and steady advances of the mind and soul. Like western astrology, the Chinese astrology system is used to determine a person’s health, career direction, likes and dislikes, compatibility with other person, luck attraction and a lot more . Chinese astrology is created of a 12 year cycle and has 12 animals to depict every year, they are better known as the Chinese Zodiacs. The animals which are arranged in a particular order are rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep (or goat), monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. The perfect genisis of the twelve animal systems remain unknown. But there is a tale behind its origination, that is the Jade King wasn’t doing anything and was feeling bored. He din’t see what was happening on Earth, since he had servants satisfying his each want. He concluded that he wished to see some animals on the Earth and thus he sent his advisors to get 12 animals for him. The advisor initially sent an invitation to the Rat, asking him to even get the cat, because the Rat was envious he prevented the cat from knowing the news. Other invitations were sent to the Ox, the Tiger, the Rabbit, the Dragon, the Snake, the Horse, the Ram, the Monkey, the Rooster and the Dog, asking for their attendance the following day. They stood in line in front of the king, and then he found out that they numbered only 11, than 12 that he desired. Thus the Jade king wanted the 12th animal from earth so he asked his advisor to get it. The servant hurried into a man carrying a Pig, and grabbed| it and gave it to the king. The animals lined up in front of the king in any order. The Rat, being smallest of the rest, climbed on the Ox’s back and started to play the flute. This impressed the king greatly and he was happy. He gave the Rat primary position. Second place was given to the Ox for its good sportsmanship, and third was given to the Tiger, who appeared so strong. The Rabbit was given fourth place, the Dragon fifth, the Snake sixth, the Horse seventh, the Ram eighth, the Monkey ninth, the Rooster tenth and the Dog eleventh. Because of the kings nature and as the Pig arrived at the end, it was given the Twelfth place. After the event was ended, the cat begged the king to reassess but he denied the cat. There are 5 elements in the Chinese astrology. These elements were Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water, always arranged in that order because it is said to be a continuous procedure, that is Wood produces Fire; Fire produces Earth; Earth produces Metal, Metal produces Water, and Water produces Wood, and again it goes back to its start. Last but not least there is the cosmic and divine strength that influences the entire Chinese astrology system. This force is termed as The Yin and The Yang. The Yin symbolizes the female and the Yang symbolizes the male. An diverse explanation states that the Ying symbolizes the Evil and the Yang symbolizes the Good. And when both are taken into consideration, Ying and Yang, create harmony and everlasting balance. The combination of Yin and Yang is the veiled power following the Chinese Horoscope system. But the Chinese Astrologers are not stern decision makers. They do not believe a person’s fate is already given perfectly at the moment he or she was born. What they do believe is that a person’s time and place of birth set limits within which a person has freedom. What happens in these boundaries is influenced not only by own choice also by outside issues such as locality, monetary conditions and the like.

Not surprisingly, both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI have their Venuses in Taurus, making them warm and affectionate. They are able to make commitments and long-lasting attachments, such as working for the Church well past their second Saturn Returns. They are also prone to enjoy beauty, luxury and comfort in their surroundings.

Most of the Popes, including these two, have a lot of Venus and Taurus, Libra influences in their charts, which is generally thought to have a softening effect. This makes a man more kindly, benign and more subtle in relationships. Venus allows for pliability.

Pope Benedict and Pope John Paul both have their Neptunes in Leo. This is considered a religious element, no doubt contributing to their Pope-ness. They are naturally attracted to selflessness as a worthy life goal.

Pope Benedict and Pope John Paul share Pluto (to transform) in Cancer (instinctive and protective). This generation reaches out into the world to protect what is important to them, such as the Church, in a sensitive, emotional, sympathetic way.

APOLOGY

To say you are sorry you did something

Pope John Paul II set many records for Popes during his lifetime. This included making over 100 public apologies for the Catholic Church. From the persecution of individuals such as Galileo and Jan Hus, to sins against large numbers of people, such as the Church’s participation in the African slave trade, burnings at the stake and religious wars following the Protestant Reformation, and missionary abuses against indigenous peoples of the South Pacific. During a Public Mass of Pardons in 2002, there was a blanket apology for the sins of Catholics throughout the ages for violating “the rights of ethnic groups and peoples, and [for showing] contempt for their cultures and religious traditions.”

A Taurus with a rising sign in Libra, Pope John Paul II valued peace and harmony at all costs, yet also preferred real results from a situation. Therefore, when an apology was due, it would be in his nature to give one. With his Mars in Libra, he knew the value of cooperation with others to further any efforts, and was fair-minded and impartial, with a natural ability to sense injustice and make amends.

Events in his life reinforced these tendencies. An event that occurred just the year before his first Saturn Return was significant. Even though his doctoral work from the Angelicum had been unanimously approved, he was denied the degree because he could not afford to print the text of his dissertation. Taurus would feel deeply the unfairness of this, and would be quite capable of working out the apology in various ways for a long time, such as apologizing to others for the injustices done to them. For things that just aren’t right.

Or, put another way, Pope John Paul might have agreed that one learns to forgive and to apologize by being given opportunities to do so. “I prayed for patience,” we say, “and the Lord sent me twin daughters.”

Pope John Paul had many opportunities to grapple with forgiveness. His mother died when he was just 9, and his brother when he was 12. He spent time with the Jewish community when young (and would have heard their stories), and then was shot and critically wounded by Mehmet Ali Agca, a Turkish gunman. (He later visited Agca in prison and “pardoned” the man.) He later survived another assassination attempt from a right-wing Spanish ex-priest. He dealt with apologies and forgiveness at the personal level. He said in one address, “No, we shall not be saved by a formula, but by a Person.”

APOLOGIA

To defend an intellectual position

Pope Benedict XVI, now serving, is an Aries with a Libra Moon and Gemini rising.

At his first Saturn Return, he became professor of Freising College, and at the University of Bonn. His inaugural lecture was “The God of Faith and the God of Philosophy.” With the Libra moon, he would probably like to avoid conflict, but with Sun in Aries and Uranus in the 1st house, Pope Benedict will always prove to be his own man. An Aries is fiercely independent and will rush in where angels fear to tread. An Aries can be blunt, and with the idealism of a Jupiter in Pisces, he would make a distinction between something “academic” and “not academic.”

The address that got him in trouble was delivered in an academic setting, ironically at the university where he had taught theology when he was a professor.

With his Mars in Gemini, he loves to argue and debate. With his Uranus in Aries, he takes it personally when someone tries to restrict his independence and will strongly defend his right to self-expression.

Pope Benedict’s apology was like that of an academician – an apologia (the defense of an intellectual position). The philosophy, you know – “was that really something I should apologize for … but first, just what does the word ‘apologize’ mean … and what does one apologize for … or for what ought one to apologize … and was it what I said, or was it the way they took it ….” The Libra balancing of the scales as well. After all, he tried 3 times to retire.

Called upon to apologize to Muslims for what he said, Pope Benedict’s “apology” is a study. “I am deeply sorry for the reactions in some countries to a few passages … which were considered offensive to the sensibility of Muslims.” My goodness, look at the qualifiers in there, and the distancing, and what he did not say. He did not say, “I apologize for offending Muslims.” It was a “quotation,” he clarified, which did not “in any way express my personal thought,” he who chose the quotation. He then said he hoped this “serves to appease”

Appease means to bring to a state of peace or quiet, to cause to subside. It also means pacify or conciliate, “to buy off (an aggressor) by concession usually at the sacrifice of principles.” The Aries.

In true Aries with Libra fashion, this was the apology that was not an apology. As CBS evening news put it, it was “a statement which stopped short of the apology demanded.” The headline read, “Regret but No Apology from Pope.”

Of course the Mars in Gemini person can become too aggressive and antagonistic in argument and others will take offense where none was intended.

Later, when the president of Venezuela demanded an apology for a comment Pope Benedict made in Brazil in 2007, and an Ecuadorean organization responded that the Church had perpetrated “one of the most horrific genocides of all humanity,” the Pope replied a week later that it was “not possible to forget the suffering and the injustices …” Forget, of course, is not “forgive.” “Forget” means something happened. “Forgive” means the something that happened was wrong.

Being asked to apology for something he considers the “truth,” the tensions in Pope Benedict’s chart get activated. His father was also a policeman, and children of policeman, and ministers are often conflicted in regards to rules and authority – a sort of a love hate thing. This is also Libran, to weigh the scales, to waiver, while the Saturn in Sagittarius makes Pope Benedict conservative and respectful of traditional authority figures. So how about an “apologia” instead of an “apology.”

Getting Unstuck (and Moving Toward Your Dreams)

Posted by mallton on August 24th, 2009

Copyright (c) 2009 Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds

If you’ve been sitting on some dreams of your own lately, or have been feeling stuck in some area of your own life, here are a few simple steps (simple, but not always so easy) that I’m using to stay focused on the goals and dreams in my own life that I recently shared with you. You can use these very same techniques – it’s not rocket science, but it does take a bit of determination and a firm decision to go for it, despite the bumps in the road that ALWAYS come up.

1) Stay tuned in to your desire and your dream, no matter what. Even in the face of fear, or naysayers, or external pressures. So often, we experience a wish or a desire or a dream and then we shut ourselves off from it. We tell ourselves, “I can’t do that” or “who am I to want that” or “I’m too busy” or whatever. So our lives stay in status quo and our dreams get put on the back burner (again).

Not fun. Trust me. I’ve been there. Whenever I hit a bump or a negative thought (from either myself or someone else), I keep envisioning what I want: I see me with my book, speaking to audiences of moms and girls, being a guide and a mentor to women who want MORE for themselves and their daughters. I imagine what that will feel like and I let the excitement wash over me.

Your desires and your dreams are in your heart for GOOD REASON. They are a part of you aching to be expressed (you wouldn’t have them if you weren’t supposed to be bringing them to life). What do you see, and how does that FEEL?

2) Get support from someone – or a group of people – who has your best interest in mind and who is striving to grow as well. Find a buddy or a coach or a mentor or a mastermind group who can help you hold your vision of what you want, who believes in you, and who can help you take action despite fear.

I know this can be easier said than done. Many of us are surrounded by others who are also stuck in fear and may not know how to really support us. I can tell you that for me, I notice who I admire. Who is living their life in a way that is similar to how I want to be living mine (not doing the exact same thing necessarily, but modeling the type of courage and audacity and authenticity that I aspire to?). Those are the people I consult with and share my visions with. That’s how I chose my coach (and mastermind group) this past year – I found someone who was kind and compassionate, but also took a “no excuses” approach to living her dream.

3) Keep moving – baby steps sometimes, big bold steps other times – in the direction of your dreams and desires. We all feel fear – believe me, I’ve been feeling a lot of it lately – especially when we’re about to do something new or important or meaningful. Fear is a FEELING (not an action). Sometimes it’s there to protect you from real danger (like going up and petting a lion and getting eaten), but other times it’s your unconscious mind’s way of protecting you from imagined, or not-so-terrible-after-all, danger (rejection, failure, disappointment – small potatoes compared to being eaten by a lion).

So how do you take action, despite fear? When the inspiration strikes – act! When you get a good idea, when you’re in the groove, when you just know something feels right – that’s the time to take action!

I’ve found that the clearer I get about my goals, and the more action I take toward them (even tiny baby steps), the more things SHOW UP in my life to support what I want (it’s like a bit of serendipity!). For example, the other day, as I was thinking about my upcoming “Be The Change” coaching program for moms and thinking about where I could hold the retreats, I began to visualize what I wanted (all this while blowing dry my hair on the way out to a party). At the party later that evening, I met someone who just happened to know of the perfect retreat house that was so similar to what I had been picturing. CRAZY.

You will notice that as you clarify and move toward your goals, a bit of magic will begin to happen.

4) Get out of your own way. Seriously, you are the only one in your way, so clear the clutter – the time clutter, the paper clutter, the mind clutter, the house clutter, the body clutter – ALL THE STUFF (both real and created) that continues to clutter you up so there’s no room for you to have what you really want. Create the space and your dreams will have a place to land.

I invite you to join me in turning toward your dreams – go ahead and bring them right down into your heart and into your mind right now – and put one foot in front of the other along your path. I’m right here next to you if you need a hand.
